Community Residential Services

Fulfilling a Special Need

Home is where the heart is, but for some of New Jersey’s most challenged residents, home is also a place where they can find a safe, comforting, and accepting environment.

Community Residential Services

LSMNJ provides emergency housing for children displaced from their homes, transitional housing for women and their children affected by abuse, and long-term housing for developmentally disabled adults.

Piscataway & Sayreville Community Residence

Since 1986, LSMNJ’s Piscataway Community Residence has been home for up to nine adult women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In addition, LSMNJ’s Sayreville Community Residence has served up to six profoundly developmentally disabled adult women since 1993. Over a year ago, the State of New Jersey’s Division of Development Disabilities (DDD) announced it was reviewing housing and services requirements, processes, and operational procedures for DDD providers and would be implementing changes. As a result, effective October 5, 2015, care of residents in our Sayreville and Piscataway Community Residences will be transferred to CARINGHouse Projects, Inc., a faith-based organization that has numerous similar sites throughout the state.
