BURLINGTON – Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey (LSM/NJ) is pleased to announce the grand opening of the newly renovated state-of-the-art fitness center at its Crane’s Mill Continuing Care Retirement Community, located in West Caldwell, New Jersey.

At a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Tuesday, February 5, Jerry Nugent, CEO of LSM/NJ, was joined by Craig Karczmer, Executive Director of Crane’s Mill, Ylli Bilani of Spartak Fitness, Angelo DelRusso of DelSano Contracting, Mary Koether, President of the Resident’s Council, and Councilman Bill Payne, West Caldwell Township in congratulating the residents and staff on their most recent accomplishment.

Nugent thanked the residents of Crane’s Mill for their input into the design of the renovated center, and commended them on taking an active role in preserving their health. “Crane’s Mill is fortunate to have such a dedicated group of residents who are committed to staying physically active.” applauded Nugent.

Designed and constructed by DelSano contracting, the newly renovated fitness center is located just off the facility’s main lobby and includes various pieces of strength training and cardiovascular equipment, provided by Keiser Corporation. The Center also features two plasma screen televisions, a small seating area, and is adjacent to an indoor heated pool and whirlpool.

“It is wonderful and exciting for the residents to have convenient access to a comprehensive fitness facility like this.” remarked Ylli Bilani, Personal Trainer at Crane’s Mill. “I admire [the residents] for taking the necessary steps to maintain and enhance their quality of life, as well as their overall health and well-being.”

Most of the programs and services offered at Crane’s Mill are introduced through informal discussions with Karczmer at his monthly ‘fireside chats.’ “Our residents take great pride in Crane’s Mill and have a true passion for maintaining an independent, active lifestyle,” explains, Karczmer. “We consistently work with our residents to determine ways to meet their needs and provide a comfortable environment. It is a true partnership.”

Following the ceremony, residents were treated to a motivating discussion led by Don Callahan, Regional Representative of Keiser Corporation, on the benefits of incorporating exercise into a retired lifestyle.
