Important Announcement Regarding New Visions Homeless Day Shelter in Camden
BURLINGTON, NJ - It is with great sadness that we announce that Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey (LSMNJ) has decided to close New Visions Homeless Day Shelter in Camden. We have found it necessary to cease operations due to limited resources.
We are committed to the people we are serving in Camden and are exploring other opportunities where we can continue to minister to the homeless and the needy in Camden. We will continue to provide affordable family housing in Camden and are hoping to partner with other churches in order to minister in areas related to meal programs, vocational training opportunities and other unmet needs. We are hopeful that through our discussion with local leaders, churches and other providers that we will identify a way in which we can continue our work with the homeless in Camden.
During the past few weeks we have been working with other providers who have graciously helped to fill in the gaps. We have also been working with each of our patrons to assure that they have access to services and know where services are available. We will continue to work with our partners and the participants to assure that every individual in the program is transitioned to another provider who is able to meet their needs.
A decision like this, to cease operations of the shelter, is never easy. However, we are confident that our work with Camden’s homeless men, women, and children will continue through our future LSMNJ initiatives.
