LSMNJ Announces First Annual Walk to End Hunger and Homelessness

Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey (LSMNJ) will hold its first annual FEET in the STREET Walk to End Hunger and Homelessness at the Wiggins Waterfront Park in Camden, NJ on Saturday October 10, 2015 (rain date October 17). Participants can chose to walk a 2.5 or five mile route or they can support the event by sponsoring a walker.

Announcing the walk, Executive Director of the LSMNJ Foundation Beth Gebhart noted, “The FEET in the STREET walk is family-friendly and can be enjoyed by people of all ages as they walk to raise awareness and help end homelessness and hunger.”

Online registration is now open for FEET in the STREET at Active.com for both groups and individuals. There is no registration fee, however every participating walker is asked to raise a minimum of $50. On the day of the walk, on-site sign-in will begin at 8:00 am. Opening remarks and the start of the walk are set for 9:30 am.

Funds raised will directly benefit LSMNJ’S New Visions Homeless Day Shelter and individuals impacted by issues of hunger within other LSMNJ programs. Located on Atlantic Avenue in Camden, New Visions provides immediate assistance for basic needs–food, clothing, showers, laundry facilities, referral services, counseling and other services–to over 150 people each weekday.
