For Birthparents

Facing an unplanned pregnancy can be a scary, stressful and confusing time.  But it is important to know you have choices and that we’re here to help.  Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey’s Adoption Program staff provides birthmothers and birthfathers with one-on-one, non-coercive, non-judgmental, confidential counseling at no cost. A licensed social worker will meet with you to discuss your available options and to assist you through the decision making process. Your counselor will provide you with the factual information necessary for you to make the best decision for you and your child– whatever that decision may be.

When creating a loving adoption plan, we recognize that it is a lifelong decision made with love and courage. However, this decision can also come with feelings of guilt, grief, and loss. Our program offers free, ongoing counseling, beyond placement, to assist you in managing and processing the emotions that you may feel.

Our staff is here to ease your anxiety and assist you in making a decision, free from pressure. It is our goal for you to feel honored and respected throughout the process and that your decision is one that you feel comfortable with and positive about.
