Assisted Living
Assisted Living (AL) is for those individuals that require some assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, eating, dressing, and using the restroom, but who also want to experience some level of independence. These units are usually studio or one bedroom apartments and residents provide their own furnishings.
A resident’s appropriate level of care is determined by a comprehensive assessment by our professional nursing staff. The following services are available, depending on assessed need.
- Three nutritious and appetizing meals daily.
- Assistance with mealtime.
- Daily bed-making, as needed.
- Weekly housekeeping, spot cleaning as needed.
- Personal laundry.
- Reminders and familiarization cues.
- Social, spiritual and cultural programs.
- Medication administration.
- Incontinence management.
- Cognitive impairment management.
- Assistance with mobility when necessary.
- Hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming.
Once the assessment is completed, a level of care will be determined based on the amount of ADLs which are required for daily care. At that point, a program option will be selected.

Dedicated Alzheimer’s Memory Care Wing
Crane’s Mill currently offers 60 assisted living beds, but is in the midst of renovating in order to convert the original 60 units into 48 assisted living apartments, plus 17 additional apartments dedicated to provide specialized attention for residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia. Scheduled to be completed by Winter 2010, the memory support wing will provide care within a safe, secure home-like environment by healthcare professionals that are specially trained in providing dedicated care to Alzheimer’s patients. Planned group activities and a structured daily routine will also provide a familiar and meaningful quality of life.
