Seasonal Opportunities:

Each year LSM/NJ distributes Back-to-School necessities, as well as holiday ‘treats’ and toys to children in our programs: Project Home, Lutheran Home for Children, Immigration & Refugee Services, Trenton Affordable Family Housing, and Lutheran Social Ministries of North Camden. You can help us make a difference in their lives.

Annual Easter Basket Drive – Feb 3, 2012 – March 23, 2012
With your help, we deliver annually more than 350 unique Easter baskets filled with combinations of activities & books, games, stuffed animals, candy and treats, as well as Easter-themed messages to children of all ages. If your church group or organization would like to participate by donating and assembling Easter baskets, please contact us.

Back to School Backpack Program – July 13, 2012 – August 17, 2012
Generous donations of assembled backpacks from individuals, community groups and congregations enable hundreds of children in our programs to get a jump start on learning and succeeding in school. Many of our families cannot afford the added expense of school supplies – so we are happy to lend a hand and provide backpacks filled with important necessities.

‘Tis the Season for Gift Giving
Thanksgiving – September 21, 2012 – November 9, 2012
Christmas – November 1, 2012 – December 16, 2012

During each Thanksgiving and Christmas season, we ask that you consider giving a gift for a resident or child within one of our many programs.

  • At Thanksgiving, we collect frozen turkeys, canned vegetables, stuffing, gravy and cornbread and cranberry sauce. We also accept gift cards to Shoprite, Pathmark and A&P.
  • At Christmas we collect toys for children in our programs. We gather hygiene kits, gift cards, frozen turkeys and grocery items for our residents. And for our seniors, we collect calendars, especially those with larger numbers; hats, scarves & gloves, and other items all help to lift the spirit of others during the Holiday Season.
  • LSM/NJ provides bags to fill, if needed, and we will gladly pick-up donated items.

For more information and to coordinate your donations, please contact Lisa Barnes, Director of Community Partnering & Advocacy, at 609.699.4143 or at lbarnes@lsmnj.org.
