Birchwood Annual Picnic Honors Mayor and Council for Generosity in $60,000 Grant
Old Bridge, NJ- Birchwood at Old Bridge Senior Apartment Community hosted its annual picnic, Wednesday, July 31, honoring Mayor Owen Henry, his council, and Carol Lowy from Housing and Community Development Services, Inc.
Birchwood at Old Bridge, a part of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey, was honored to receive a $60,000 grant through the Community Development Block Grant. The honorees were presented with plaques to display Birchwood at Old Bridge’s gratitude for their support in receiving this grant.
“Through this grant we were able to put in 13 walk-in shower units. For those who had difficulty accessing bath tubs, this has been a huge improvement.” Toni Di Donato, property manager of Birchwood at Old Bridge explained.
Guests were able to tour the facility, which is compromised of 88 apartments, intended for individuals 55 and older. Following the award presentation, residents, staff, and the honorary guests enjoyed traditional picnic foods and musical entertainment provided by Billy Phillips. “It was a wonderful afternoon, enjoyed by all,” says Toni Di Donato. “We are very happy we had the opportunity to express our appreciation of the support received by the township officials, and Housing and Community Development Services, Inc.”
