Camden Garden Camp Receives $10,000 from TD Charitable Foundation to Advance Program

LSM of Camden, part of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey, Summer Camp Garden Program recently received a $10,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®.

This grant helps to fund the newly expanded garden and allows for educational trips throughout the summer camp.

“We are so thankful for the support of the TD Bank, through the Charitable Foundation. With the help of funding like this, we are able to improve and grow the camp each year, making it an enjoyable and educational experience for the children,” explained Lisbeth Roque, social services coordinator at LSM of Camden.

The summer camp is offered free of charge to children of LSM of Camden’s housing community, providing children with a safe, fun environment while school is out.

The 2013 Summer Garden Camp was a success. “This past summer with the expansion of the garden we were able to harvest fresh herbs as well as tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, eggplant, and cucumbers. The children were proud to share the vegetables with their family and members of the community,” said Lisbeth Roque.

LSM of Camden is looking forward to next year’s camp in summer of 2014.
