Christmas Comes Early to Lutheran Crossings in 2016
Yes, it’s looking a lot like Christmas at Lutheran Crossings Enhanced Living in Moorestown (LCEL). A team of elves (LSMNJ staff) transformed the historic Breidenhart Castle (on the front of the property) into a Christmas Wonderland. This was in preparation for two special holiday events open to the public.
The first—on Wednesday, December 7th—was LCEL’s first time participating as a featured home in the Virtua Foundation’s annual Cooks Tours. Each December several Moorestown homes decorated for the holidays are selected to be on the popular fundraiser tour. Each home hosts an estimated 2000 visitors who purchase tickets to gain an inside peek at architecture, furnishings, and especially the seasonal decorations.
The second—on Saturday, December 10th—was the first-ever Christmas in the Castle Craft Fair. Sponsored by the Lutheran Women’s Auxiliary, the fair attracted more than 50 craft vendors from across the state. They displayed and sold unique, handmade, and specialty crafts throughout the main building and the castle. The “Santa” also made an appearance and posed for photos with kids, and some adults, who shared their Christmas wish list with him.
Both events provided new opportunities to introduce LCEL to many in the community who may never had reason to tour the Castle or visit residents of LCEL. And, residents and staff of LCEL enjoyed being in the midst of preparation for the events and starting off the holiday season in such a special way.
