Crane’s Mill Earns Positive Fitch Rating

Each year, Crane’s Mill receives a rating from Fitch, a well-known independent agency that provides the public with reports on the financial health of an organization. In 2013, the recently released Fitch rating report showed an improvement for Crane’s Mill, a popular continuing care retirement community owned by Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey (LSMNJ).

Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for LSMNJ Jen Cripps, explains: “The most important thing to take away after reading the report is that the outlook for Crane’s Mill improved from negative to stable.”

“We received this upgraded rating for three main reasons: we have a good cash position, we showed good performance, and we have good leadership in place,” continued Jen. “The synergy of those factors led to this improved rating, and show that we are poised to succeed for years to come.”

There has been an outstanding effort from all departments to get to this point. “It’s a team effort, and the results reflect that effort,” says Karla Traficante, director of sales & marketing for Crane’s Mill. “We had a record number of residents move in to our community in 2013, and 2014 may again exceed that record.”

In particular, the Creekside expansion is filling up. Opened in 2010, Creekside added 75 brand-new independent living apartments and cottages to the 206 already established at Crane’s Mill. “The Creekside homes are fantastic, and it’s wonderful to see these buildings continue to transform from an architectural achievement to a neighborhood of friendly faces,” added Karla.
