LSMNJ Appoints New Board Chairman and Vice Chairman
Reverend Brad Hildebrandt, Board Chairman
Reverend Brad Hildebrandt serves as assistant pastor in two congregations and is a member of the staff of the NJ District LCMS. He chairs the Ministry Management Committee and has assisted congregations with strategic planning. His primary ministry in the congregations is to serve, preach and teach. Reverend Hildebrandt has a business degree and a global consulting practice in which he provides management and consulting advice to law firms, law departments and government agencies.
His expertise lies in leadership, organization, compensation, merger and acquisition and strategic planning. He will provide his knowledge and skillset to his new role as Chairman of the Board at Lutheran Social Ministries of NJ.
“I am very impressed with what LSMNJ is already doing and expanding the reach of the organization seems to be important. I am looking forward to assisting LSMNJ in its mission to serve those in need throughout New Jersey,” shared Reverend Hildebrandt.
Ken Van Dongen, Vice Chair
Ken was introduced to LSMNJ as a result of Superstorm Sandy. LSMNJ’s disaster recovery efforts led him to organize a group from his congregation to work many Hand-in-Hand days. As he became more involved, Ken also participated in other LSMNJ events such as ‘Feet in the Street’ and its golf outings.
“I serve on the LSMNJ board as I truly believe that we are here to carry out God’s work, care and tend to others as needed. LSMNJ’s mission statement conveys that belief as well. So it’s a great match,” expressed Van Dongen.
Ken’s background is in Financial Reporting, having worked for Prudential Financial for 37 years. His latest role at Prudential was Vice President of Finance for the Chief Investment Office. Ken is fully retired now and volunteers his time to a few different organizations and causes, such as; mentoring college students, providing legal advocacy and financial empowerment skills to victims of domestic violence, continuing to work on homes being rebuilt in Monmouth County, and mentoring prospective small business owners through SCORE.
LSMNJ is excited to welcome Reverend Hildebrandt and Ken Van Donegan to the Board. LSMNJ’s staff is grateful to have such dedicated and experienced leaders providing guidance and oversight to the organization.
