LSMNJ Helps 2 Families Displaced by Sandy Move Home
Lutheran Social Ministries of NJ (LSMNJ) recently assisted in the long awaited return of two families to their Sandy ravaged homes.
A family of five from Long Branch, NJ was able to move home, Tuesday, May 27 after having to demolish and rebuild their home from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. LSMNJ met the family through a Hand in Hand Day; a monthly volunteer event that assists those affected by Sandy in a number of ways. In this case LSMNJ, put the family in contact with the Monmouth County Long Term Recovery Group (MCLTRG) who helped the family secure funding and volunteers to finish the rebuilding.

LSMNJ, in partnership with other organizations helped another Long Branch family move home this April. After more than a year of being displaced from their home due to five feet of water and mud from Sandy, Catholic Charities case management enlisted MCLTRG, LSMNJ, Brethren Disaster Ministries, and the American Red Cross to help the Proctors return home.
