Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey Welcomes Dr. Ahmad Farooq as Regional Medical Director

BURLINGTON, NJ – Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey (LSMNJ), a faith-based non-profit organization based in Burlington, New Jersey, is pleased to announce Ahmad Farooq, MD, has rejoined the organization as Regional Medical Director. Dr. Farooq previously served the organization as Medical Director of Lutheran Senior LIFE at Jersey City, a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly.

Dr. Farooq’s responsibilities for LSMNJ include oversight of the delivery of care to the organization’s residents, participants, clients, and patients, and will work closely with LSMNJ clinical staff to support the organization’s Quality Assurance initiatives.

“We are proud to welcome Dr. Farooq to our organization in this newly-created senior management role,” shared Sherry Outten, LSMNJ’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “His breadth of experience will help our organization continue to fulfill our mission, while building upon our dedication to excellence in care across our programs.”

Dr. Farooq holds a Medical Degree from the University of Punjab in Pakistan, and a Master of Science Degree in Health Sciences from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D. C. He is residency-trained in Internal Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit with a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Illinois. Dr. Farooq has actively maintained certifications in the specialties of Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He also holds certifications from American Medical Directors’ Association and American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, and is a Fellow of latter.

Most recently, Dr. Farooq worked as a hospital-based physician with Capital Health Medical Group in Trenton while also working as Medical Director fo­­­r various Hospice Organizations.  Previously he served in roles including Medical Director, Chief of Geriatrics & Extended Care Service, geriatrician, and hospice medical director and academically involved with medical teaching, most recently with IM residency program and medical students from Rowan School of Medicine and Temple University. His experience is vast, especially in a managed care environment and will complement the needs of the programs at LSMNJ.
