Mercy Gonzales Appointed as Executive Director at The Villa at Florham Park
Staff and residents of The Villa at Florham Park welcomed Mercy Gonzales (RN, CDP, CALA, LNHA) as the program’s new executive director on May 15.
A long-time employee and member of the Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey (LSMNJ) family, Mercy previously spent over 14 years with LSMNJ both as an administrator and director of nursing. Her most recent position was at Crane’s Mill, LSMNJ’s continuing care retirement community in West Caldwell. Mercy served as the administrator for the Health Center at Crane’s Mill, provider of skilled nursing and assisted living services for Crane’s Mill residents and others in surrounding communities. During her tenure there, she was responsible for creating an assisted living memory support neighborhood, developing an out-patient rehabilitation program, setting up a healthcare services unit, and was key to the development of strong hospital relations. Mercy’s career also includes experience with other local healthcare programs such as Fellowship Village Retirement Community in Basking Ridge, Merry Heart Nursing Home in Boonton, and Troy Hills Nursing and rehabilitation Center in Parsippany.
In addition to her compassion and understanding of resident and family needs, Mercy is an experienced leader with success in developing strong team members to assure quality and compassionate care. Like others in the LSMNJ family, Mercy spent time at The Villa in Fall 2016 assisting with its transition of ownership from the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth to LSMNJ. No stranger to The Villa community, she was excited by this opportunity and eager to become part of this special program and its people.
A native of the Philippines, Mercy graduated there with Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Makati Medical Center. Soon after, she relocated to the United States to take advantage of a professional opportunity. Now a US citizen, Mercy settled in Morris County where she continues to live with her husband and children.
