Pennsauken Senior Residents Receive Free Fresh Produce
According to an article released by aginginplace.org, ‘Nearly one in every six seniors in America faces the threat of hunger and not being properly nourished.’ In an effort to combat this staggering statistic, Lutheran Senior Residence Pennsauken, an affordable senior housing community that is home to more than 70 seniors, now offers free, fresh produce bi-weekly to its residents.
Craig Roscoe, LSMNJ Property Manager & H.E.R.O. Program Manager, explains, “Many senior residents are on fixed incomes and don’t have access to quality, fresh food. Therefore, we will be bringing it to them, right in the building they live in.”
Betty B., a resident of LSR Pennsauken, was the first to select items from the fresh produce table, which will be purchased through a grant received from The David and Marilyn Krupnick Foundation.
