The Longest Day Alzheimer’s Association Fundraising Event
Once more, Crane’s Mill is teaming up with the Alzheimer’s Association on June 20, 2019 – “The Longest Day of the Year” – to bring awareness and raise funds to end Alzheimer’s disease.
On this day, which marks the beginning of the summer solstice, residents of Crane’s Mill, their families, friends, and those in the West Essex community are encouraged to purchase a paper lantern to pay tribute to an individual affected by Alzheimer’s or to another loved one. These tributes may be given in memory of a patient, in honor of a caregiver, or in the name of any loved one. The paper lanterns are made of bio-degradable materials, and will include a small white tea light, and a card to be completed with the name of the loved one.
An evening prayer service will be held at 7 pm in Hinman Hall on June 20 to bless the lanterns, and the Crane’s Mill staff will then take the lanterns to the pond, light the candles, and set the lanterns afloat. A summer dessert will be served to complete the evening. We hope this will be an inspiring evening for all.
The lanterns are $10 each (cash or check made payable to the Alzheimer’s
Association). For information, please call Barbara Davey at 973-276-3004 or
Nicole Smith at 973-276-3012.
