Proceeds from Hearts of Hope 2017 Helps Those in Need
A lovely spring night set the stage Thursday, March 30th for Lutheran Social Ministries of NJ’s fundraiser Hearts of Hope. Held at Crane’s Mill in West Caldwell, nearly 140 people attended the annual event organized by the LSMNJ Foundation. The evening raised over $45,000 for three LSMNJ programs. New Visions Homeless Day Shelter in Camden, the Good Samaritan Fund, and affordable housing ministries all benefited from the night’s proceeds.
Special guests honored at this year’s event included 14 of the original charter residents of Crane’s Mill, a life plan community. Guests played a variety of casino games all in the name of a good cause. Many favored the roulette tables where winning numbers kept guests happy and playing more. Nutrition Management prepared and served a delicious assortment of dining delicacies. The fresh seafood table and signature drink were each surrounded by an ice sculpture — adding to the festive atmosphere of the night. Guests were also entertained with music and a silent auction.
“If not for LSMNJ Foundation board members and partners, our generous donors, and participants in events like Hearts of Hope, the everyday shelter and comfort we offer through LSMNJ’s diverse programs and services would not be possible,” explained Beth Gebhart, executive director of mission advancement. Calling Hearts of Hope an all-around success, she noted, “The event was a real team effort–from members of the board, to the folks serving dinner—to ensure everyone had a wonderful time.”
